Daisy hasn't received enough attention on this year of photos yet, so here she is, looking a little sad. Actually, she is concerned because there are some chicken breasts out in the kitchen, and she really, really wants some.

Pi Week!

Saturday, the 14th (3.14) is Pi Day. This year's Pi Day is extra special with the nerd types because it's 2015, so Saturday is 3.1415. Two years ago my office celebrated Pi Day with so much pie we elected to take a year off to recover. This year we're enjoying Pi Week, hopefully so we won't binge all on one day. However, I'm predicting we just binge all week, but we'll see.
Anyway, here's my contribution for Monday--a homemade, deep dish apple pie.

Twofer Tuesday!
Two Big Celebrations Today:
1. Mardi Gras (When ALL the questions at Pub Trivia are about New Orleans and Mardi Gras and you've lived there, you win pretty much all the prizes. Not pictured: lawn chair, another bucket of Bud stuff (we gave away), and lots of drinks (some we kept, most we gave away.)

2. Nick's Birthday!!!!!
(Nick wasn't too cooperative about getting his picture taken today, so here he is just under one month old (22 years ago!), probably newly home from the hospital, because you can still see where his IV infiltrated into the back of his left hand. Yes, I had a couch in that pattern, and it matched the wallpaper border in our front room.)

IT'S A TWOFER TUESDAY!!!

Two awesome things Central Iowans enjoy every day:

(1) Great Day!
This is my coveted Great Day mug of tea on my desk at work. "Do Iowan's really enjoy Great Day?" you ask? That's a perfectly legitimate question, and I choose not to answer.

(2) The Des Moines Register!
Today's "Iowa Life" section includes an obscenely large graphic of a refrigerator accompanying Register freelance writer (and my niece) Heather (Schrader) Torpy's article regarding freezing meals.  "Why do you still subscribe to the paper edition of The Register?" you ask? Another legitimate question.

This happens at work every time the parking lines are covered in snow. Notice several cars toward the end of the row are blocked in because three cars are parked end-to-end. This was taken in the afternoon after the sun had warmed up the pavement some, so it was much more organized than in the morning before some vehicles moved at lunch. If you ever wondered why we have the need for parking space lines, this shows you.

I'm starting again. If you think this 365 won't be flooded with grandson pictures, think again! I'm not sure how long it will last. I think I've started four times and finished one complete year.

For today, here's a picture of the snow, just before dawn. It's Iowa, it's winter, and we're all surprised and freaking out because we received measurable snowfall.
